GFI SUPPORTS VULNERABLE children in ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA THROUGH EDUCATION, FAMILY & COMMUNITY

★ UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021: A NEW HOME; A BIGGER FAMILY ★

In September 2021, 17 of our 20 Betasab children transitioned from our Origins Homes to join our partner community, Hope for the Fatherless in the Gurd Shola - Kotebe area of Addis Ababa. Hope for the Fatherless is a small, local NGO deeply connected with the Ethiopian diaspora community and supported by a home base in Colorado Springs. HFTF’s mission is the same as ours: support and care for orphaned and vulnerable children in group homes.

As part of our partnership with Hope for the Fatherless, GFI will continue to support the children in their new home by providing funds for living, medical and education-related expenses. Additionally, we continue to support our 3 older children (now over 18) as they complete their education, transition to independent living, and look ahead to college.

Your donation GFI will go directly to help these wonderful children. Any amount helps — please donate today! ❤︎

Our Programs

Origins Homes are permanent family homes for 20 orphaned children. They go to local schools and have nutritious food, healthcare, and a loving network. Learning Lion Scholarship children receive tuition scholarships and programming to help them stay in school.

How We're Different

Instead of focusing on the short term or on international adoption, our programs focus on the long run by emphasizing holistic development. Education is the thread that runs through all of our programs.

GFI CORE VALUES

  • Work to alleviate poverty and mitigate vulnerability

  • Improve the outlook for the future for women and children through education and empowerment

  • Increase the odds of success by focusing on sustainable measures and programs

Betasab means Family in Amharic.  But family and relationship are not just words – they are the bedrock principles, along with honesty and transparency, of Betasab and the Global Family Initiative.  Being part of the organization means being part of the Family.
